Hello everyone,

Our next Zoom presentation is coming up - 15 June, 7:30pm.

Mike Gill will be giving a presentation titled:

From Local to Global and Back Again: Citizen Science's role in a
Global Biodiversity Observation Network

Description: this presentation will profile the increasingly important role
of citizen science in global efforts to better monitor the pulse of our
planet.  An overview of the development of a global  biodiversity
observation network will be profiled and examples of how citizen science is
used to support informed conservation action will be shown.

Mike Gill
Director, Biodiversity Indicators Program at NatureServe & GEO BON Co-Chair

For the past 25 years, Mike has dedicated his career to establishing user-driven and results-oriented biodiversity conservation, research, and monitoring programs. These programs have spanned the Arctic, North America, Eurasia, Antarctica and Latin America and have involved partnerships with Aboriginal, federal, provincial, territorial and foreign governments, academia, industry and NGOs. Mike has advised governments, senior officials, and Environment Ministers on conservation issues and published numerous scientific publications, books and book chapters. An accomplished presenter and facilitator, he is particularly skilled at convening experts and stakeholders, from a diversity of backgrounds, to find effective solutions to conservation challenges. Mike brings a diverse background, years of experience and his expansive global network to any conservation challenge.
