Interesting new book and webinar from Dr. Suzanne Simard

Hi everyone,

Dr. Suzanne Simard is a forest ecology professor at the University of British Columbia. She has led quite an impressive career, pioneering modern forest ecology principles. Her main focus is on the below-ground fungal networks that connect trees and facilitate underground inter-tree communication and interaction.

Dr. Simard has published a new book titled Finding the Mother Tree (https://blomidonnaturalists.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0dbe0d10c2ef002331c94c4f9&id=4fba803ee5&e=b24cf58224) that I think you will all appreciate. The book is the product of many years of research on the Mother Tree Projec (https://blomidonnaturalists.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0dbe0d10c2ef002331c94c4f9&id=4167db79bd&e=b24cf58224) t and will be released tomorrow. You can listen to Dr. Simard speak about it in a CBC interview here (https://blomidonnaturalists.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0dbe0d10c2ef002331c94c4f9&id=b02950bdc4&e=b24cf58224) .
In addition, Canadian Geographic is hosting a webinar with Dr. Suzanne Simard this Thursday at 9:30pm (AST). It will be streamed on Facebook and you should not need a Facebook account to be able to watch it. Here is the link to the meeting information: https://blomidonnaturalists.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0dbe0d10c2ef002331c94c4f9&id=d96e86e2ff&e=b24cf58224

I am hoping to attend, or to at least watch the recording, as I'm sure it will be a wonderful event. Suzanne Simard has helped pave the way for future female scientists to ask difficult, innovative and pertinent questions of the natural world. I encourage you to learn about her work!

All the best,
Riley
