Last month's trip to the Wolfville Watershed was a great success, with many fascinating animal tracks and the beauty of the woods covered in fresh snow! Thanks to Soren for hosting these great field trips. If you do not have snowshoes, the Town of Kentville offers gear loans including snowshoes [2] and this can be arranged by emailing recreation at kentville.ca. The Town of Wolfville is currently re-doing their snowshoe inventory and will not have snowshoes to loan from the Recreation Centre this weekend, but hopefully will have new sets soon. I am coordinating with them. Please reach out if you have any questions about gear. Our presenter this month is Mike Gill, Director of the Biodiversity Indicators Program for NatureServe (www.natureserve.org [1]). Mike will be giving a talk entitled "BENDING THE CURVE OF BIODIVERSITY LOSS: THE POST-2020 GLOBAL BIODIVERSITY FRAMEWORK." Mike will reflect on the need for enhanced efforts to address the fundamental drivers of biodiversity loss. This will include reflection on the failures to date of global multi-lateral environmental agreements (particularly the Aichi Biodiversity Targets), the current negotiations of the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and what is needed to move the needle on biodiversity conservation. I think this will be great to think about the big picture of global conservation policy and frameworks, as we continue to explore all facets of biodiversity, big and small, local and global! Message-ID: <11BB493F-43AC-4A7D-823B-E5B46221A2BB@bondrup.com> Hello everyone, As many of you know, Howard Williams left for Ontario late last summer. Howard was the treasurer as well as Newsletter Editor. I took over the duty as Treasurer but only on an interim basis. We really need someone to take over the Treasurers position. We have an accountant who does most of the work but we need someone to join the board to: - Deposit checks - pay invoiced (e-transfers) - keep track of deposits and debits - at end of month send info and bank statements to the accountant. It is really not proper for the president to also be the Treasurer. Please let me know if you are at all interested and I can discuss the duties directly with you. Thanks so much, Soren President BNS From coordinator at blomidonnaturalists.ca Fri Feb 25 13:10:47 2022 From: coordinator at blomidonnaturalists.ca (Caroline Beddoe) Date: Fri, 25 Feb 2022 15:10:47 -0400 Subject: [BNS_members] Fingers crossed for Winter on Snowshoes this weekend!
