Perhaps resting after a flight? We had noted several V-shaped flocks of geese flying south across the dykelands as we drove from Kentville to Port Williams.</p><div><br class="khtml-block-placeholder"></div><p>There were numerous signs of spring during our day in the Valley: four or five grackles on a telephone wire; crows carrying nesting material; song sparrows and juncos singing; dandelions blooming in a sheltered spot at the base of an Acadia University building. </p><div><br class="khtml-block-placeholder"></div><p>At Acadia, we visited the Harriet Irving Arboretum, which is a great place to go for the winter-weary.
