Exploring the Life of a Beaver
27 February-- 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Led by Carolyn Green, we will make our way through the 200 acre property of the Lorax Woodlands, up the brook trail to a pond which has been created by a large beaver dam. We will view the dam and two secondary dams, as well as the large beaver hut. While the beavers are hibernating, we will discuss general beaver activity and the role they play in managing waterways. We’ll also keep our eye out for Hemlock Woolly Adelgid and any other interesting observations we may encounter.
Each person attending the event must register. Please wear warm layers as we will be stopping to examine things periodically.
If there is a lot of snow, we will recommend snowshoes. You can rent a pair for free from most municipal recreation centres. Email email@example.com for help acquiring snowshoes.
Parking at the Black River Community Hall.
This event is free to the public. However, we do ask that if you have the capacity, please consider making a small ($5 or $10) donation to support the Blomidon Naturalists Society.
