Geological History of the Minas Basin

May 24 @ 10:00 - 15:30
$50

Come discover the amazing tidal flats and coastline of the Bay of Fundy. We will explore rock outcrops that illustrate a few crucial time intervals of the geologic history of Minas Basin and walk out on a tidal flat at low tide—its features give clues about modern tidal dynamics. We’ll start out on the tidal flat and then trace our steps back in time. Most of the day will be at Rainy Cove (aka Pembroke), with a short stop at Cheverie on the way back. The goal is to increase understanding of the entire geological history of Minas Basin and we will  discover interesting rocks and fossils along the way.

Elisabeth has given two talks for the BNS about the history of the Minas Basin which can be found on the Society’s website.
