Vernal Pool Walk

May 17 @ 10:00 - 12:00

Join Soren Bondrup-Nielsen for a walk to the vernal pond in Blomidon Provincial Park in honour of Jim Wolford, who was one of founding members of the Blomidon Naturalists Society. Jim loved to take people on field-trips whether it was to go birding, look at plants, or to listen to frogs in the early evening. His favourite trip was to the Vernal Pond in Blomidon Provincial Park where he delighted in catching fairy shrimp, put them in a jar with water and show these amazing little critters to people. Jim died June 24, 2022, and in 2023 we initiated the Jim Wolford Memorial Hike to the Vernal Pond. This hike will take you through the old growth hardwood forest along the Jodrey Trail to see the fairy shrimp in the vernal pond.
