BNS Kids & Youth

BNS Kids & Youth are hands-on programs in nature helping children, youth, and families to connect with the natural world, themselves and their local communities. It has grown from the foundation of many years of Flying Squirrel Adventures programs and with the support of Nature Canada.

We run a wide range of day camps, family outings, earth adventures, specialty nature events and individualized programs designed with a specific group in mind. The Blomidon Naturalist events calendar profiles all of the public events in a given month along with the BNS monthly e-newsletter and on Facebook. Community engagement is a key value, and we work with a range of partners to offer programs including the Terranaut Club, the Canadian Sea Turtle Network, Acadia University Department of Biology, the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts, Hawthorne Hill Farm, Longspell Farm, Wolfville Baptist Church, local community halls, etc. Our programs move around the region to local ecosystems suited to the theme and focus. We priorize programming in four settings— forests, fields and farms, streams and wetlands, and shoreline and ocean.
