Hi everyone,

If you are reading the news this evening you may have seen the good
news: the developer behind the plan to turn Owl's Head Provincial Park
into a golf course has withdrawn the offer, citing lack of government
support. See the article from CBC here. [1] (Thanks to Ken for prompting
me to share it.)

As both west and east coasts see the impacts of extreme weather events,
I find that it is heartening to have some good news amid the climate and
ecological crises.

Owl's Head has led to a great grassroots effort by so may people across
this province, and that is also worthy of celebrating and appreciating.
I wish we didn't have to fight so hard, but my heartfelt gratitude goes
out to all those who helped out with this campaign in many ways and who
have demonstrated the keen desire to protect biodiversity in Nova Scotia
and the wonderful care and passion that exist in our communities.

Have a good evening,

Caroline

 Coordinator, Blomidon Naturalists Society
Blomidon Naturalists Society activities take place in Mi'kma'ki, the
traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq People. This
territory is covered by the "Treaties of Peace and Friendship" which did
not deal with the surrender of lands and resources but in fact
recognized Mi'kmaw title. We want to recognize that outdoor education
and play would not be possible without access to the natural world that
has been stewarded since time immemorial by the many Indigenous peoples
of this land. We acknowledge that we have a responsibility to honour and
learn about their histories and current cultures and to actively work in
support of reconciliation. We are committed to fostering respectful and
sustainable relationships with the Indigenous Peoples of this land, with
all other organisms, with the land and with the water.
