Good evening everyone,

Another quick Owl's Head email and update on how to continue to take
action (prompted by Celes - thank you).

We sighed with relief and celebrated the news of Lighthouse Links, the
developer behind the Owl's Head land sale, backing out of the deal. But
things aren't over yet (as John notes, his sign is still up). The fate
of Owl's Head is not ensured, and now is the time to call upon the
provincial government to legally protect this land.

CPAWS NS have created an action page, which is easy to use and only
takes a minute or so to submit a letter to the provincial government
asking them to permanently protect this area. Please take action here.

Let's tell the Nova Scotia government to legally protect the public
lands at Owl's Head, to ensure that this ecological significant area
does not face further threats and to help restore public trust in the
integrity of our provincial protected areas system.

Thanks,

Caroline

Blomidon Naturalists Society activities take place in Mi'kma'ki, the
traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq People. This
territory is covered by the "Treaties of Peace and Friendship" which did
not deal with the surrender of lands and resources but in fact
recognized Mi'kmaw title. We want to recognize that outdoor education
and play would not be possible without access to the natural world that
has been stewarded since time immemorial by the many Indigenous peoples
of this land. We acknowledge that we have a responsibility to honour and
learn about their histories and current cultures and to actively work in
support of reconciliation. We are committed to fostering respectful and
sustainable relationships with the Indigenous Peoples of this land, with
all other organisms, with the land and with the water.
