May Monthly Meeting

Our May monthly meeting is coming up on Monday May 16th at 7:30 pm on Zoom. We will have presenter James Churchill telling us "Tales from the Cryptic - Hidden treasures and lesser-known stories from the Miner's Marsh hotspot!" Join us to hear all about lesser known birds and other biodiversity in the beloved Miner's Marsh in Kentville. Birding Courses!

We have two full-day birding courses coming up. Both courses are from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm at Ross Creek Centre for the Arts in Canning, and include lunch!

Saturday May 21 is Beginner Birdwatching with Soren Bondrup-Nielsen. Great for those looking to get into birding and learn the basics of bird biology and identification. Saturday May 28 is Birding by Ear with James Churchill. Climate Justice on the Homefront: An Inspiring discussion from the frontlines of the climate crisis in Canada

Amnesty International is hosting a panel discussion (https://blomidonnaturalists.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0dbe0d10c2ef002331c94c4f9&id=862977ec02&e=b24cf58224) on climate justice on Sunday May 15th from 5:00-6:30 pm (Atlantic): "From fires to flooding to extreme weather events, we will explore what climate change looks like across the rural-urban interface and how human rights enables truly livable, radically sustainable climate justice futures." While the focus is on stories from BC, there are lessons to be learned for those of us here on the other coast.
