Annual Eagle Count along the Cornwallis River

February 11 @ 10:00 - 11:00

Nearly every year since 1979, a census of raptors has been taken in late January or early February in eastern Kings County around the Cornwallis River in Nova Scotia. The count is made for one hour on a specific day with observing parties assigned to designated areas to guard against over counting numbers. This count of Bald Eagles and other raptors is named in honour of Cyril K. Coldwell. This year, the count is taking place in the morning 10 to 11 am of February 11. The count has usually been coordinated with the Sheffield Mills Eagle Watch Breakfast but this year it is talking place February 24 and 25 which is late for the eagle count to take place.
Below is a graph of the Eagle Count data from 1979.
