XmasC_map_sA Christmas Bird Count (CBC) has been performed in the Wolfville area for over 80 years. For more details read the history article referred below. The present Wolfville count circle (shown in the map here) is centred on Highway #1 in Greenwich and has a radius of 7-1/2 miles. The circle is sub-divided into 24 areas, each of which is covered by one or more canvassers on the ‘count-day’ for that year.

Each Christmas Bird Count must be held on a single day between December 14th and January 5th. Traditionally, the Wolfville count is held on the first possible Saturday within this period.

The CBC participants record the species and their numbers seen that day. They also keep track of the time and distance travelled during the count actiivities.  All of these statistics are collected by the count-day director and collated for submitting to Bird Studies Canada.

The 2025 Wolfville CBC is TBA.
